In particular, the ICO has highlighted the risks of using the ‘BCC’ function when sending bulk emails. The ICO has reprimanded and fined organisations for activities relating to sending out bulk emails. in 2021, HIV Scotland was fined £10,000 in connection with a data breach resulting from sending bulk emails.
